UCC BOARD OF APPEALS
Edgmont Township has adopted the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC) as the Edgmont Township Building Code. The Building Code requires that the Township have a Board of Appeals to hear and rule on appeals regarding: (1) interpretation of the Building Code, (2) proper application of the Building Code and (3) requests to use an equivalent form of construction other than that prescribed by the Building Code. The Board also hears and decides applications for variances and requests for extensions of time under the Building Code. The Board consists of five (5) volunteer members and meets as necessary.
Currently, there are two (2) openings for the Board of Appeals. The Building Code requires that the members of the Board must be Township residents and be qualified by training and experience to pass on matters pertaining to building construction. Training and experience may consist of licensure as an architect or engineer, experience in the construction industry, and training or experience as an inspector or plan reviewer.
Interested applicants should email a resume or letter documenting their experience and qualifications to manager@edgmont.org using a subject line of UCC Board of Appeals. Questions about the position may also be sent to the same email address. The positions will remain open until filled by the Board of Supervisors.
